Hello, my name is Mark Duncombe/Organizer & friend, and I'm reaching out on behalf of Tony Costa, a devoted single father and a resilient fighter from Wasaga Beach, Ontario. Tony, born July 23, 1964, has always been the rock for his three incredible daughters—now aged 22, 25, and 27—who mean the world to him.
Just four years ago, Tony underwent a life-saving quadruple open-heart bypass surgery. After a grueling recovery, he was able to return to work briefly, providing for his family as he always had. But life threw another devastating blow in April 2025 when Tony was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Following the unsuccessful removal of the tumor, further tests—including blood work, CT scans, and PET scans—revealed a much more serious diagnosis: stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer with rare neuroendocrine (small cell) differentiation.
This aggressive and uncommon form of prostate cancer has spread to his liver, lungs, and pelvis. Tony is now undergoing intensive chemotherapy with cisplatin and etoposide, a heavy regimen that's taking everything out of him. The side effects are tough, and unfortunately, Tony is unable to work during this time. He has no private insurance, and his medical Employment Insurance (EI) benefits have run out.
As a single dad, Tony has always put his daughters first, working hard to support them through thick and thin. Now, he's facing overwhelming financial pressures: keeping up with mortgage payments, covering everyday bills, buying groceries, and managing the ongoing costs of his treatment and care. Without steady income, these essentials are becoming impossible to maintain.
We're asking for your help to ease this burden and allow Tony to focus on what matters most—fighting this disease and spending precious time with his daughters. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward:
- Mortgage and household bills
- Groceries and daily living expenses
- Medical-related costs and transportation to appointments
Tony is a kind, strong man who has never asked for handouts, but right now, he needs our community to rally around him. Your support would mean the world—not just financially, but as a reminder that he's not alone in this battle.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading Tony's story, for sharing it with others, and for any contribution you can make. Every dollar brings hope and relief during this incredibly difficult time. Please keep Tony and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
With gratitude,
Mark Duncombe/Organizer & Friend
