I’m a 50-year-old Adaptive Athlete currently living in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 2003. MS is a neuromuscular condition—an unpredictable disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, disrupting the flow of information between the brain and the body. Its symptoms vary widely and can include vision loss, fatigue, impaired coordination, and balance issues.
In 2021, I began spending more time in the gym to combat the strength, flexibility, and balance losses caused by MS. As I started to see progress, I realized that while living with MS presents ongoing challenges, with dedication, discipline, and the right mindset, I’m still capable of doing hard things.
That shift in mindset is what ultimately led me to start competing in CrossFit. These competitions have taken me across the U.S., pushing me to new limits and allowing me to connect with an inspiring community of adaptive athletes. In November 2025, I’ll take on another major challenge—an international CrossFit competition in Puerto Rico.
Unfortunately, the costs of competing add up quickly. Travel, lodging, food, and registration fees are a significant financial burden, and I’m currently seeking support to help cover these expenses.
Thanks
Tony Nelson
