I'm reaching out in a moment of real crisis and vulnerability. Today, I received a 10-day eviction notice from my landlord in Portland, Oregon. There are no available emergency rental assistance funds available locally and I’m fighting to avoid homelessness while finally getting the professional mental health care I desperately need. In February 2022, I lost my government career due to a presidential executive order—no fault of my own. I’ve been driving for Uber Eats ever since, but in the last 6 months my mental health has collapsed. Diagnosed with persistent depressive disorder, complex PTSD, and generalized anxiety disorder, worsened by chronic back pain and sciatica from two past car accidents, I’ve been paralyzed by panic attacks, traumatic flashbacks, hopelessness and debilitating freeze. I’ve tried everything on my own—breathing exercises, meditation, somatic practices, supplements—but nothing broke through. For the first time, I’m seeing a physician and licensed mental health counselor through the Oregon Health Plan. Navigating the system has been exhausting, but I’m committed to healing.

I’m a non-drinker, non-smoker, no drugs, non-violent, and I want to contribute to my community again. The fear and shame of losing my home while trying to recover is overwhelming.
