My name is Brook, and I'm starting this fundraiser for my brother-in-law, Tony Smith. Our family is navigating a very difficult time as Tony faces a sudden and severe health crisis.
In the middle of August, Tony had two back-to-back seizures that landed him in the hospital for two weeks. He worked incredibly hard in speech and physical therapy to get back on his feet and return home.
Just a few days later, my sister, Sam, noticed that something was still not right. Tony was rushed back to the ER with fluid in his stomach, shortness of breath, and signs of jaundice. The doctors at Trinity Hospital in Muskegon admitted him and delivered the devastating news: Tony is in a state of liver failure.
Tony is now being admitted to the University of Michigan Hospital this week for a review for a hopeful liver transplant. The road ahead is long and uncertain, but a transplant is our biggest hope.
This is where we need your help. The financial and emotional toll has been immense. The funds raised will be used for:
Medical Expenses: Covering the growing costs of hospital stays, tests, and future transplant-related care.
Living Expenses: Providing a place for my sister, Sam, to stay near the U of M Hospital so she can be by her husband's side during this critical time.
Unexpected Costs: Helping with any unforeseen expenses that arise during this challenging journey.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a direct and meaningful impact. If you can't donate, please share this GoFundMe with your friends and family. Your support would mean the world to us. Thank you for helping Tony and Sam during their toughest fight.
