Help Tony and his family while in the hospital

On December 21st, Tony experienced a temperature of 103.5 and decided to go to his local VA Clinic the following day. By the 23rd, he had received a positive result for COVID and he was instructed to quarantine. On the 27th, he ended up in the Emergency Room with difficulty breathing, was put on oxygen, and was diagnosed with Pneumonia. By 4:30 that afternoon, doctors moved him from an ER bed to his own room. I messaged him to see how he was feeling and the last message I received from him said, “I feel like shit… And this is the last you’re probably gonna be hearing from me for a while the nurses said I need to stop texting and get some sleep love you brother”. The following day, Tuesday, 28 December, the doctors sedated him, put him on his stomach, and on a ventilator, where he has been since. His wife, Diana, and son, Anthony (Mini-T), lack transportation, keeping Diana from getting to work. She is running out of Sick Time to use which will affect their income while Tony is healing. Additionally, their heater went out the day Tony went into the hospital and just replaced it on January 4th. These funds will help cover some very unexpected expenses during a period where income is being affected.

 

5 January 2022 UPDATE: 

I got to see Tony today. Through a window. I feel fortunate for that. I wasn’t even supposed to be let past the entrance. The nurse was supposed to bring his wallet to me, but they gave me a visitor pass and another nurse guided me to outside his room. His numbers are continuing to get better. His Ventilator is at 30% now. They are letting up on the sedatives to start waking him up to see how he will react to the COVID test and if he’s ready to have the ventilator removed. He’s very restless; they’ve put mittens on his hands like they do with infants so he doesn’t scratch anything or try pulling on tubes and cables. He’s getting better, but still has a piece to go, though.
