Hi, my name is Tonnika Lane, and I’m a full-time working mother doing my very best to provide a stable home for my 3-year-old daughter, Kennedi. I'm reaching out with a heavy heart and deep humility, asking for help as we face the threat of losing our home.
For three months, I was unexpectedly unemployed — not because I didn’t want to work, but because I had no one to help with child care. My employer changed my schedule to hours I simply couldn't manage as a single mom with no outside support. With no family nearby and no one to pick up my daughter from daycare, I was left with no choice but to stop working temporarily.
I’ve since returned to full-time work, and I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet. But during those months, I fell behind on rent. I had worked out a payment plan with my landlord, but she recently changed her mind and is now demanding the full past due amount. Without help, I’m at risk of eviction — and I’m terrified of what that would mean for my daughter.
I’m not asking for a handout — just a hand up. I'm determined to keep moving forward, but right now, I can't do it alone. Any amount you can give will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads, and helping me catch up so I can continue providing for my daughter.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us in this moment.
With love and gratitude,
Tonnika & Kennedi
