Help Tonka get his surgery

Most of you already know Tonka’s story, Tonka arrived at Earth Healer Animal Sanctuary August 2023. He was starved, beaten, and then chucked out of a car. A bypasser found saw him being thrown out of a car, picked him up and brought him to a vet, luckily the vet was our vet and she rang us immediately. We took him in the same day.

He had severe infections, mites, and lice. Pieces of his tongue and ear was missing which we initially thought could have been due to him possibly being used in dog fighting.

it took a while for him to heal and settle in with us. Now he has a new family and a bestfriend called whiskey who he follows around all time, plays with and even shared a bed with!

unfortunately though due to humans greed he was bred to be an accessory to fashion rather than a living being. So he has severe breathing issues. If he walks more than 5 minutes he overheats and starts panting really hard, unable to draw the breath, and so he starts vomiting white phlegm as that is obstructing his air ways. We are afraid one day he will die simply because he couldn’t take a breath.

good news is this can be helped with surgery.

his life expectancy isn’t long if he doesn’t get this surgery. He’s likely to die to not being able to breath, in an otherwise healthy and happy dog.

the cost of the surgery is €2000- €3000 and only done by specialised vets. We were lucky to find one who will do it. But we don’t have the funds. Any funds raised that isn’t used for the vets will go towards feed and medicines for the sanctuary residents.
