Hello my name is Kenice and I am reaching out on behalf of my family living in Black River, Jamaica. On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in southwestern Jamaica as an unprecedented Category 5.
Our community has been devastated with homes torn apart, roofs ripped away, roads blocked, and power and communication lines down. Among those affected is my own family. Our roof was completely destroyed, our electronics and appliances ruined, and nearly all of our household belongings lost. The place we once called home is no longer livable.
We are asking for assistance to help us rebuild, recover, and restore stability. Your donation will go directly toward the following:
- Food, toiletries, hygiene kits, and cleaning supplies
- Emergency repairs and materials (roofing, windows/doors, structural support)
- Temporary shelter and safe living conditions until repairs are complete
- Essential household items lost in the storm (furniture, kitchen equipment, bedding)
- Supporting our family’s longer-term recovery (school supplies for children, food)
We believe in resilience. We believe in rebuilding. But we cannot do this alone. Every dollar helps — no donation is too small. If you are able to support, we will be deeply grateful. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page with your network so more people can become aware of our situation and help spread the word.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
