Help Tonia Hooper's Children Through This Difficult Time

Tonia Ann Hooper (Pierce), mother to Chelsea Bailey, Jordan Bailey, and Zoe Hooper, step-mother to Mila Hooper, Michael Hooper Jr, Tariq Hooper, and Mekhi Hooper, passed away on July 22, 2024, after a long battle with multiple health conditions. Even though she was fighting for so long, her passing was and still is a shock. She wanted to get life insurance to help ease the financial burden, especially for her 19-year-old daughter who also lost her father at the age of 4. Unfortunately, she needed to remain alive for three more years to get the full benefit.

Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home in Evansville after relaxing in her bed and eating her favorite meal. Known for her determination to always be right and how caring she was for family and friends, Tonia will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She welcomed anyone in need with open arms. Tonia helped raise and care for many children in her 52 years of life. She was a nurse until she was no longer able to work due to health complications. Even with the health issues, she wanted the best for her children. She fought until her last breath mostly for her youngest daughter, Zoe.

Tonia’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, not the sadness of her passing. She is survived by her mother Connie Young, father Louis Young, children listed above, honorary son Darian Porter, honorary sister Michele Peaches, sister-in-law Wilma (Penny) Waelde, great-grandson Keigynn Bailey, her number 1 aunt Bonnie Balthus, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved poodle Lilo Hooper. She is now reunited with her husband Michael Hooper.

A ceremony will be held at Osbourne Funeral Home. The date and time are TBD. There will be a celebration of life following the funeral at Sugar Mill Creek Party House. Flowers and memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary.
