Hi everyone,
My name is Tracey. Three days ago, I woke up to a photo sent to my phone—no words were necessary. My heart sank. The photo was from my younger sister, and it showed the devastation that had unfolded in her home overnight. She is exhausted, mentally and physically.
I’m reaching out to ask for your help for my sister, Toni, who has just lost nearly everything due to an unexpected and devastating flood in her home.
Toni is a hardworking single mum living in Currumbin Queensland. She spends her days supporting some of our most vulnerable youth—children with autism, ADHD, and complex needs—providing them with the care, patience, and understanding they deserve. She gives so much to others, but now she needs our help.
Currumbin and the Gold Coast where recently severely impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred, Toni spent countless hours helping other families affected by the storm, never thinking that just days later, she would face a disaster of her own. Usually fully insured, she was shocked to discover that her policy had lapsed without her realizing it.
A flexi-hose in her upstairs bathroom burst while she and her son were sleeping, flooding the entire house.
By the time she woke up, water had already poured through the ceilings, walls, and floors. The bathroom—where the leak started—was completely destroyed. Floors throughout the house are ruined, and plaster on the walls and ceilings is saturated and collapsing. The extent of structural damage is still unknown as she waits for a building inspector to assess whether her home is even safe to stay in.
Toni has nowhere else to go, and initial repair estimates are already over $100,000.
How You Can Help
Toni has worked so hard to provide a stable and loving home for her son. Right now, she is facing an overwhelming financial and emotional burden. Without insurance, she has no safety net.
We are raising funds to help cover:
Replacing ceilings, walls, and floors damaged by water
Rebuilding the bathroom where the flood started
Electrical repairs to ensure the home is safe
Temporary accommodation if the home is deemed uninhabitable
Any donation, no matter how small, will help Toni and her son recover from this nightmare. If you can’t donate, please share this campaign with your friends, family, or on social media—it would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support. ❤️
