My name is Toni Young. Ive been a Calaveras County local my entire 36 years of life. I have 2 small boys that are 3 and 7. Last year I found out I have stage 2 left breast cancer that very invasive. For the last year and a half it's been an ongoing battle to cure my cancer. I've went through 6 months of chemotherapy back and forth from Sonora weekly while traveling to Stanford where I was to receiving further testing: half a dozen biopsies, mris, cts, mammograms and eventually a left breast lumpectomy along with several of my lymphnodes during my operation. Since then due to finances and location I've had to turn down proton therapy which was one of my best chances for having minimal side effects for my health in the future. I've had some serious complications which greatly postponed my final portion of treatment, which now is standard radiation where I travel approximately 2 hours a day for Monday thru Friday. Due to the prolonged treatment of my cancer my disability funds have completely exhausted and while using every resource I could possibly fathom: The cancer Society in Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties, the social serve liason at the hospital, disability, Calaveras Health and Human Services and The Susan G. Komen Foundation to try to make it through this difficult time I find myself and family still struggling tremendously while I try to complete my treatment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
