Help Tona Recover After Her Heart Attack

Our mom, Tona, recently suffered a heart attack that resulted in an emergency hospitalization and a life-saving procedure. Thankfully, she is now home and beginning her recovery.

The weeks and months ahead will be focused on healing—follow-up appointments, cardiac rehabilitation three times a week, medications, and adjusting to a new normal while she works to regain her strength.

Like so many people faced with an unexpected medical emergency, the financial impact extends far beyond the hospital stay. While Tona recovers and isn’t able to work the way she normally would, everyday expenses continue, along with new costs associated with her care and recovery.

Making things even more difficult, shortly before her heart attack, Tona was involved in a car accident that was not her fault. Her van was totaled in the accident. The van wasn’t simply her transportation—it was an important part of her livelihood, allowing her to buy, sell, and transport vintage furniture to earn income between filming and casting projects.

If you know Tona, you know how independent and resourceful she is. She is much more comfortable being the person who helps someone else than being the one who needs help, which is why our family decided to create this for her.

Funds raised will help ease the financial pressure during her recovery, including rehabilitation and recovery-related costs, prescriptions, household and living expenses, and other necessities while she focuses on getting stronger.

Our hope is simply to give Tona some breathing room. We want her energy right now to go toward healing rather than worrying about bills, transportation, or how quickly she needs to get back to work.
