Update 7/20: Tom passed away Saturday, July 19th while donating his organs to others. He was able to give 5 families a second chance at life by donating his lungs, heart, liver, and kidneys. He had a beautiful honor walk that honored this gift.
Now the family are starting to get back to the routine of life. Kids are back in sports, Ashley and parents are preparing to go back to work, and the house is still being built. Anything that you can give to help them pick up the pieces is exceptionally appreciated.
Tragedy has struck an amazing family. Tom Bauer fell down the stairs Saturday afternoon while cleaning. He suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed. The doctors discovered that a seizure had caused the fall. Swelling of his brain and pressure on the brain stem has caused Tom to be unresponsive and unable to breathe on his own.
John and Pat raised a wonderful and generous man. In true Tom fashion, his extreme generosity is carrying over into his final time with us and he will be donating his organs. We hope that even through our sadness, others can find hope, joy, and health through his donation. We do take comfort in knowing that he will live on in others.
An additional challenge that has come along with this tragedy, Tom's brother has been admitted to the hospital with kidney failure. Please also think of him and his family during this stressful time.
Ashley (Tom's fiance) is an amazing human, mom, daughter, friend, coworker and much more. She never ceases to put a smile on your face, and now it's time for us to share love back to her during this time of need. Ashley and Tom have been together for a number of years and are raising three wonderful children. Recently, they have taken on the challenge of building a house.
This Gofundme has been created to ease the financial burden that they will likely endure in the future to cover costs of food, medical bills, transport and more.
Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
