To our friends, near and far -
Most of us, except, perhaps, the Greatest Generation, do not recall a time like this before. A challenging time. A trying time. A time that has a potential to break us or bring out the best in us. We are bound by memories of beautiful days and dreams of things yet to come, our lives filled with home and family and everybody's unique favorite pastime and comfort food.
There are folks out there who are working very hard to make this happen, answering the call of duty regardless of what best or worst this may entail, folks that are often taken for granted because they are always there, to the point of becoming invisible.
Your doctor, your nurse, your paramedic, fireman, police officer. They are your spouse or your parent; your sibling or child or friend. They are there and they will be there, even if that means they will be apart from their families and their own lives will be put in danger. They deserve our admiration, our gratitude, and our undying support.
To that end, Tompkins Square Bagels needs your help.
Just because many of us are at a lockdown, it does not mean we have lost our spirit. Let us support these unspoken heroes whose recognition is often only the pride in a job well done. Let us support these acts of heroism, that, for most, will go unnoticed. Let us support those who are out there on our behalf, for, with helping one, we lift up many.
All donations to this fund will be used to provide free, delicious and nutritious food to the neighborhood hospitals, first responders and homeless shelters in New York, the greatest city in the world!
