My name is Ryan, and I perform as Tommy Gunns & His Lonely Guitar. I was fired back in April from my plumbing dispatching job for Columbia University; due to the Trump cuts, we saw a significant decrease in work, and with my boss being very verbally abusive towards me and growing tired of his abuse, we had an argument which resulted in my termination. I was recently forced out of my apartment by my landlord, who at first only offered me $500 to move out. A lot of my items were destroyed when they were stored in the basement of my old building as it flooded one night due to a severe storm. My landlord manipulated me into leaving, and only provided a minimal amount of money for me to move out; I have exhausted my finances in purchasing a car to be able to work, and the remaining funds were used to register and insure the vehicle (which cost almost the equivalent of the car itself). The left over funds were used to pay for motels to stay in, as I have poor credit, and have no family to rely on for housing. I have recently acquired two new jobs, however the pay much less than what I had been making at my last job. I am currently living in a warehouse in Long Island with my baby girl, Frankie, however, it is not air-conditioned during the weekends, I am limited in terms of when I can come and go, and I have no means to cook meals or do laundry. I am hoping to raise funds to secure either a room, studio or 1 bedroom apartment on Long Island so that Frankie and I have a place of our own and can not live like we are living in a psych ward. I have to rebuild a great deal of my life again, which has happened to me now twice within the past 5 years after losing my mother to COVID. I am just trying to get back on my feet and make an honest living.
