I'm raising funds to help my dog heal after he was viciously attacked at Exmouth beach. We were watching the sea, he was calm on a lead and 2 black labs attacked him. They were a long way from their owners, a man and a woman, who had zero control. The first dog bit his ear then his neck. I managed to - without thinking - pull the dogs jaw apart and get it off. Used my body to block it but didn't see the second dog, who pinned tommy down and bit his back/leg. I picked tommy up, but the dog was still attacking us.
Then the man finally got to us, i was screaming and crying, tommy was screaming. And the man shouted at me for over reacting, shouting at me for walking my aggressive dog on a lead, causing the problem then walked off with the woman, still not put their dogs on a lead.
I called to them as they walked back past us to come and help but they just walked past, still with their dogs off the lead.
Tommy's leg is badly injured, possibly his back and ear too.
This is the 5th or 6th time our little 3.5kg ball of fluff has been attacked by big off lead "its ok he's friendly" dogs. This time he is really badly hurt. It is estimated to cost £2000 for the tests and emergency treatment, we are waiting to hear what he will need done. Heartbroken, shook up. And the owners just walked on by.
Tommy has crush injury to his chest and lungs, and wound on his neck. His leg is broken in 3 places and will need surgery to fix or amputate. He is on the doggy equivalent of morphine and stable but will need to be transferred back to our vets to stay until he can see an orthopaedic surgeon. He can lift his head up, is breathing a bit better and has to be kept warm. We now know that the surgery will cost up to a further £5000, (more if the surgery to pin and plate to save his leg is not successful and he later needs amputation). We have insurance but it is not enough to cover this. He will need to be in a cage for 6 weeks to heal afterwards.
Yet the owners and their dogs just walked away.

Thankyou for your donations which will help cover any additional costs, therapy, hydrotherapy and time off work while he is in a cage recovering from surgery
