After losing his wife Teresa to cancer just over a year ago, Tommy set out to start fresh at River Run Lodge in Kerrville Texas, a peaceful riverside campground run by his brother-in-law, David. But everything changed in an instant when a catastrophic flood tore through the campground. As the water rushed in, Tommy helped David and his wife escape in their vehicle—then went back to try and save his own. He didn’t make it in time. His RV, his truck, and every possession he owned were swept away. Tommy heard the screams of families and children crying out for help as the floodwaters rose, and he tried to save as many as he could—but in the end, he had to choose to save himself. Now, he’s left with only the clothes on his back and the trauma of what he witnessed. After spending his savings trying to rebuild his life, everything is gone once again.
