Support Tommy Johnson... and an Update

Donation protected
Hello Friends,

Last year, Rob Mele, let you know that our dear Westlake HS friend Tommy Johnson (Class of 1988) had amputation surgery on his foot and part of his calf due to Covid /Diabetes complications. This resulted in Tom having to wear a prosthetic. Tom spent a combined 18 months in the hospital and at a rehabilitation facility. Sadly, Tom's father, David Johnson, passed away last month (January 2022). Tom has no other family, which makes this even a greater loss to endure. He's struggling in many ways. Yet his strength humbles us. If you can find it in your hearts to send Tom an encouraging note,  sympathy card, or take a moment and call him just to say hello, it would mean the world to him! His contact info. is at the bottom of this message. He does not have an email yet.

In lieu of flowers, if you would consider donating any amount to Tom, it would be so helpful at this time.

Here is a little update...
Tom was overwhelmed by the generosity of all of you last year and thanks you all so much! We read him each one of your notes which left him grateful and lifted his spirits! It removed a huge financial burden for him as he was unable to work at his job at Goodwill nor support his ailing dad, whom he had been the sole caretaker. It has been an incredibly long and challenging road for Tom. Yet, though it all, he not once complained about what he has lost nor the ability to literally stand on his own two feet again. He has endured all of this with tremendous grace and faith. The blessing has been that his Dad was also placed at the same rehab facility as Tom. They were roommates and spent their days trying to rebuild their health together.  When Tom and his dad finally returned home to Hawthorne, Tom was still trying to navigate his new normal and use his prosthetic. Unbelievably, he went right back to being the sole caretaker for his dad--without any outside help. After two recent cataract surgeries,  Tom can now drive, a freedom that's priceless for him!

We could all learn alot from Tom. I know I have.
