Hi everyone!

We, John and Anne Rasmussen, are Tom’s siblings from another pair of parents! He is our dear friend ever since we were teenagers. He was in our wedding and has always stayed in touch with us. He is living back on Hilton Head Island where we live.

In early January, Tom suddenly went profoundly deaf. He will never hear again naturally. He is facing unemployment and the enormous challenge of working through the only opportunity he has to hear again… surgical cochlear implants. This is going to be a very long and expensive process.

A passionate and competitive sailor, Tom faces the fear of never sailing again. He will never hear music again even if his surgery works. His ability to be the beautifully friendly guy that has always devoted himself to his friends and who calls us all constantly is threatened. Life will change for him on many levels.
