Hi, my name is Tommy-Nam and on September 2nd, I suffered a freak accident—a simple arm wrestling match ended abruptly with a sound no one should ever have to hear. In an instant, my arm snapped completely, leaving me with a severe spiral humerus fracture. What has followed has been a far more difficult and draining battle than I ever expected.
The X-ray shows a complete break of my humerus, the long bone in my bicep. It's broken completely through, and the two pieces of the bone are currently not aligned. The reality of living with a completely non-functional "dead hanging" arm has been life-changing.
This injury has stripped me of my ability to be independent, and the pain is constant. Any kind of movement—whether it's walking, leaning, or even trying to position myself while sleeping—causes my arm to move, resulting in sharp, intense pain. This has forced me to be in bed most of the day, only able to stand or sit for short fractions of time. Simple tasks I once took for granted, like preparing food, showering, or even getting dressed, are now near impossible. The loss of independence and the constant, throbbing pain have taken a huge toll, not just physically, but on my mental health as well.
My recovery is a long and difficult road ahead. Doctors estimate it will take up to 6 months for my arm to heal, and up to a year to regain full strength. With my arm non-functional, I can't work and am unable to cover the mounting expenses. My goal is to do everything I can to speed up my recovery so I can get back to my upcoming career, and I'm incredibly grateful that my employer is working with me through this.
This is a humbling experience, and I'm reaching out for your help. The funds you contribute will go directly toward giving me the security I need to focus on healing. Your generosity will help with medical expenses, living expenses, and physical therapy while I'm out of work.
If you can contribute or simply share this page with others, I would really appreciate it!
I know I will be back better and stronger than ever.
Thank you for your support and for caring. It means more than you know.
