Help Tommy & Wendy - GVHD - The Fight Continues

Donation protected
The cancer fight continues - my brother Tommy Brimm - has been fighting Lymphoma for years - last year, on my birthday 12/21, he had a bone marrow transplant - the Hopes for him, his wife, and family were that he would be on his way to LIVING life - pain free, chemo-free.

Not long after the transplant, his legs started to swell, the first clue that his donor's immune cells were attacking not only his disease but healthy parts of his body, too, a condition known as chronic graft-vs.-host disease, or GVHD.

Just recently he, and his wife, celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary - see his note to her below:

Wendy has been an amazing caregiver to Tommy over these years, and I am sure it takes a toll on her - but she has a smile on her face, she is there all the time, finding different diets to try, ensuring he gets all his medication, driving back and forth to the hospital (they live nearly 2 hours away)  - every medical procedure, appointment, she is his therapist, his best friend, she is the unsung hero, our angel, his angel, and always there for him in every way!

Tommy & Wendy have 4 children, Lyndsey, Seth, Mackenzie and Grace - who all live in North Dakota, they visit when they can!  Tommy & Wendy have 7 grandchildren who they love dearly.

The daughters:

And his son:

Tommy wants to be living life, being the wonderful husband, father, son, brother to all of his family - but unfortunately he  is now hospitalized again with kidney and/or liver issues.  The mystery of this disease and what is happening is frustrating for everyone, including the doctors! The rogue immune cells can attack the skin, digestive system, liver, lungs, connective tissue and eyes!

Trading one disease for another! Tommy came in for his transplant, a potentially lifesaving treatment, with the hope of curing his cancer!  Now he will have another FIGHT on his hands, and his angel wife Wendy is traveling back and forth to the hospital, staying in hotels, with an unknown in front of them - how long will this last, various medical treatments, and the expenses are quickly adding back up.

A small donation from you this holiday season, will mean one less coffee or one less treat this week, but for them will bring some relief to the already stressful situation they are enduring - this small donation will help them stay focused, mentally, on the FIGHT AGAINST CANCER - rather than be distracted with financial worries!

Please - please -  make a small donation!

For all the cancer patients out there -- fight like hell! Keep fighting because the journey does not end -- it just changes.
