Help Tommi get home for family emergency

Hello,

My name is Tommi Parrish, an Australian cartoonist who has been living in North America for the last few years. I’m asking for any financial assistance you may be able to provide for me to be able to return to Australia. One of my parents has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and as this is a terminal diagnosis I need to travel home to be with my family. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic travel to Australia has been immensely unfeasible and very expensive. The cost of travel and eventual return to the United States, where I currently live, is astronomical and flights themselves quite sparse. The going rates for round trip range anywhere from $2500 all the way up to $5000. As per Australia’s strict entrance guidelines in regards to the global pandemic there is a mandatory ‘hotel quarantine’ of two weeks in a government sanctioned hotel. This comes at an additional expense of $2500. These costs are well beyond my means or capacity as a freelance artist trying to exist on little to no available jobs due to the global pandemic. This is an extremely daunting and vulnerable scenario for me, and the task of asking for this much financial assistance is very hard. That being said I cannot do this alone, and this is a necessity as I need to be with my family. Any and all help that you may be able to give me is immensely appreciated.
