Help Tom Through His Toughest Fight
Four months ago my partner Tom had pnumonia. He coughed too much and could barely breathe sometimes. We didn't know if he had anything other than a bad cold or possibly Corona. We took him to Patient First and they put him on 3 bags of fluid because he was so dehydrated. Tom is a petite guy. Anyone who has met him knows how small he is.
So they did blood work and they said his levels were BAD. They prescribed him an antibiotic and some steroids, along with some cough meds. He was to report to a specialist to do further testing.
Weeks went by, and he finally went in. His cold was about gone. They did some triage on him - weight, temp etc. Then took more blood.
His levels came back worse than before. They gave him this medicine and I cant for the life of me remember it's name I'm sorry. They wanted him to go to get a CAT Scan and further testing at the hospital. They found a nodule. (No surprise) .
Lastly he was told to go home and wait for a call because the wanted to do a bone marrow biopsy.
Weeks went by and he went in. They did more labs. Then he got the biopsy.
Not 24 hours later he was diagnosed with Cancer. He since met up with great specialist and formed a plan of attack. Since then hes got many treatments of Chemotherapy, and after a few weeks on pills to help his levels get better they finally came up some. Not by much because the cancer cells are killing them.
We have been working so hard to keep him healthy. I've been washing everything and sterilizing all surfaces. His WBC count is so low a infection or cold could be fatal. So no visitors if we cant help it.
Right now hes gotten another spinal tap. This time it was much. He also got two lymph nodes removed but found no cancer in them. He keeps high spirits because he doesn't want to freak me out. Its admirable but he's got to be just as frightened if not more..
As of March 19th he will be hospitalized and this will be the WORST hes going to endure. They said hes going to get a tremendous amount of chemotherapy then (thanks to his wonderful sister being the perfect match AND they both carry a mutant gene which could help his him) a transplant. Afterwards we just wish for the best.
We made this GoFundMe because while hospitalized we are going to need help.
We don't want to lose everything we worked so hard for. I stared a bonfire campaign to sell some shirts. That way you get something for your money. But those who dont want to display "F***" and just wish to donate you can do that here.
Every bit helps. Its basically covering
Rent, Electrical, and Cable.
Basic needs is all we are asking for.
So please... If you can help Tom and I navigate through this tough time. This money will make it easier on us both. His Permanent disability will be on eventually. They said it could be up to 120 days! So this is why we worry.
If you have questions im an open book. Please don't hesitate to reach out.
Be blessed.
