Help Tom Richardson Recover from Sudden Income Loss

Hi friends,

I’m writing on behalf of someone many of you know and love: Tom Richardson—world-renowned choreographer, teacher, and generous creative spirit.

I was introduced to Tom over a decade ago by my close friends Nick and Brian, and we've been close friends from day one! We became neighbors in 2016, and of all of my NY friends, I might see Tom more than anyone! He's a life force, a thoughtful, vibrant spirit who stays in touch with his loved ones and makes an effort to visit me and the family every time he's in California. Tom's community runs deep—he has dedicated the last decade to building community through dance at Artistic Dance Exchange (https://www.artisticdanceexchange.com) conventions. He’s lit up Broadway stages, studios from NY to Sydney, and lights up souls all over the world with his warm heart that beams with love.

Recently, Tom was blindsided by heartbreaking news. His employer—and sole source of income—Artistic Dance Exchange (ADE) filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Overnight, Tom lost all future work with them and over $15,000 in unpaid wages he’d already earned. A NYS lawyer (my lovely sister, thanks Lauren!) confirmed what we feared: In Chapter 7 bankruptcy, there's usually nothing left to pay employees and contractors like Tom. The ADE website says as much. (A promise to not pay. Lovely!)

This isn’t just a paycheck he’s lost—it’s his livelihood and his community. He was ADE’s biggest ambassador, often working weekends teaching at conventions and then staying up late promoting the company through his IG reels. He poured his heart into his job and now he’s facing rent and bills with a dwindling bank account.

I pleaded with Tom to let his community show up for him. He refused the first 10 times I asked, then left it to my discretion.
