Tom Nook's Gastrotomy Surgery

Thank you for visiting this GoFundMe! My name is Jamie Park, and I am a grad student from Chicago, IL trying to gather funds for my cat, Tom Nook.

Ever since I picked up Tom Nook from a rescue shelter in May 2020, we've faced some complex health challenges. He is the sweetest, most playful, loving, derpy, menace of a cat who, unfortunately, loves to eat hair ties and rubber bands. This unhealthy habit has caught up to him, and he will need surgery to remove the giant rubberband ball that is disrupting his digestive system. It has gotten so large that the doctor said, "I'm surprised he's still digesting. To be honest, I'm surprised he's alive at all."

Aside from this medical procedure, Tom has been facing skin troubles due to an unknown allergen for over 2 years. He will relentlessly itch his head and face to the point of drawing blood and forming clumps of scabs and baldness. We have been trying to mitigate his symptoms with steroids, but that is only temporary relief and makes him prone to diabetes (a much more complicated and expensive diagnosis to treat). He will get an allergy test post-surgery, but even then, we may be unable to find the root cause of his reactions.

The surgery itself will be ~$2.7k, and the rest will go towards his allergy test and other care needs. It would mean so much to me if you could contribute in any way.
