My name is Kim, and I’m raising funds to help my father, Tom, move into an assisted living facility that has dementia care. He's moving in mid January. Tom is 79 years old and has worked hard his entire life to support our family, only retiring at 73. Since my mom passed away eight years ago, he’s been lonely at home, and his dementia has made it increasingly difficult for him to manage on his own. His current living situation isn’t working anymore, and I want to make sure he gets the care and companionship he deserves.

The funds raised will go directly toward the community fee required by the assisted living facility. Anything extra will help cover the costs that his income doesn’t meet as he transitions to this new chapter. Medicare does not cover assisted living facilities, so this support is essential for Tom to get the care he needs. I know this move will be good for him—he’ll have three meals a day, caring nursing staff, and the chance to make new friends. Most importantly, I’ll be able to spend quality time with him as his daughter again, instead of just being his caregiver.
