Hi, my name is Lisa Dahl and I am starting this campaign to help my "Superman" Tom Getchell. He is a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, friend, and local business owner. Why do I call him Superman? Because without a second thought, he will be the first to help. He will stop whatever he is doing if he knows someone is in need. He never expects anything in return, and he is the strongest man I know.
Tom was found outside of his business in November 2022 in the middle of a seizure. That is where his journey with his illness began. After many hours in the ER and hospital, countless tests and scans, and several appointments with a neurologist, he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. Brain cancer. His tumor is Grade 4. It is inoperable and terminal. He has recently finished 30 days of radiation and chemotherapy. He will have an MRI at the end of March to see if the treatment did anything. We knew it wouldn't shrink it, but it enabled him to start getting his affairs in order. Throughout doing radiation every day, 5 days a week, he continued to work and do what he loves best. Turning wrenches and helping others.
The toll the treatment has taken on his body along with the effects of the brain tumor has brought him to the point where he has had to make the difficult decision to close the doors of T&N Auto for good. Tom and Nancy built their business from the ground up and successfully ran it for 25 years.
I am asking for help so Tom can live out the rest of his days comfortably and enjoy the time he has left with his loved ones. T&N Auto was The Getchell's only source of income. He has applied for Social Security benefits, but the process is slow and he can't fight amymore. He is tired. I am hoping to raise enough money so that Tom doesn't have to worry about how monthly expenses will be paid.
If you choose to donate, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Please feel free to share with your family and friends. Every little bit will help
Thank you,
