Calling it white man papers because if i'm going to be forced to. go through this system, I might as well csll it what it is:
hi, i’m tomisin (aka tomaka @proseccopussii) — i’m a 26-year-old queer Black artist and producer who’s lived in the UK since i was 7.
this country raised me. my friends, chosen family, family, community, and whole life are all here.
However, because of the UK immigration system, my life has been stuck in limbo — and now i urgently need support to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) so i can finally live safely, study, work, and build freely.
What’s Going On:
My residency permit expired at the end of 2023. I submitted a renewal application before it expired — but i’ve now been waiting over a year (14 months) for a decision.
During my biometric appointment in April 2024, my passport and ID were taken, and i haven’t had legal identification and have been unable to leave the country since.
Because of this, i’ve lost work opportunities, the stress of the situation and the unclear nature of SFE means I've been forced to go on a two year gap year of my master’s degree at UAL, and can’t access basic services like banking or healthcare with ease.
I live with a diagnosis of ADHD and fibromyalgia, and the uncertainty has made my physical and mental health worse over the last year.
Why It’s Urgent Now:
I now qualify to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain under new Home Office guidance — but the application costs £2,885, and there’s no fee waiver available.
i grew up here. i’ve lived lawfully in the UK for over 20 years.
returning to Nigeria isn’t just a disruption — it’s a danger. as a queer person, i face real risk under Nigeria’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws, which criminalise same-sex relationships and queer identities. In addition, I have not being to Nigeria since i was seven, I have no immediate family in the country. All my siblings are British Citizens, and I would essentially be stranded in a country that I have no way of navigating.
This is about survival, not just paperwork and I need my community to help me survive.
What Your Donation Supports:
£2,885 – Home Office ILR application fee
£800–1000 – legal costs for representation + submission
anything extra will go to other immediate queer individuals who I know and have spoken to who are facing similar issues in relation to Immigration.
This system has taken so much from me already — my schooling, my work, my ability to move freely and live without fear.
This fundraiser is the only real way i can make it through.
if you’ve read this far: thank you.
if you can share, donate, or come through for the event I will be hosting in order to raise funds for my settlement in July. More information about this event will be posted soon — again by donating to this fundraiser, you’re giving me a shot at finally being safe, seen, and allowed to stay with those I love.
