Help Tom Berube Beat Lymphoma

Donation protected

Earlier in March Tom woke up with intense pain in his abdomen. He woke his wife Deb and together they went to the hospital. It was there that they heard three of the most dreaded words to come out of a doctor’s mouth. “You have cancer”.

No one is ever prepared to hear those words, but Tom was determined. He and Deb have worked hard their entire lives to raise four children. They’ve built a family that now includes 6 grandchildren (with twins on the way!). They can get through this.

Family and friends immediately reached out to offer any help they could, but Tom politely refused. He and Deb have worked hard to get through bad times without any help before. How was this any different? They soon realized that while hard work and determination had served them well in the past, it would not be enough this time.

Before being diagnosed with Lymphoma, Tom was working full time as a cabinet maker. Over the past 30 years, he has become a skilled tradesman who takes immense pride in his work. When he’s not building cabinets at work he is always working on small projects around his home. Tom is an immensely creative person whose artistic creations can been seen all over his house. He recently completed a renovation of his living room, which was put to good use when all 13 of his children and grandchildren visited for Christmas.

With the spreading lymphoma and its treatment weakening him, Tom is no longer able to work. This means he is no longer covered by his work insurance, which has significantly raised his already high medical bills. Between traveling to Boston for medical appointments, treatments, and time for recovery, neither Deb nor Tom is able to push the extra mile that they have done so many times before.

Deb’s job as a school bus driver is now their sole income. After mortgage payments, food, and basic utility bills, her income alone is not enough to sustain them and certainly not enough to cover their mounting medical bills. Simply put they need all our help.

The goal we’ve set will help to relieve some of the financial burden off of Tom and Deb. With the stress of wondering how they will pay their bills gone, Tom can focus on what is most important. A speedy and full recovery, so that he may spend many more years with the family that he and Deb have worked so hard to raise.

This will not be an easy journey, but together we can help lift the financial stress off of Tom and Deb and give Tom the quick and full recovery that he deserves. Let’s show my Brother that we’re all rooting for him!

Thank you for any donation, no matter how big or small. Every bit helps. We’ll be providing updates throughout Tom’s treatment. So check back to send him your wishes and see his improvements!
