Help Tom and Weronika with their flood-damaged home
Donation protected
We are reaching out for help after enduring two severe sewage floods in our first home on Bates Avenue, Blyth, which we purchased from Gleeson Homes in September 2023. These floods have left us in an overwhelming situation, and we now face the daunting task of repairing our home with very little support.
The first flood occurred in April 2024, causing significant damage. Fortunately, at that time, our insurance covered the costs, and we began the long process of restoring our home—drying out, replastering and installing new flooring and a kitchen. Just as the restoration work was completed, our home was flooded again in October 2024. This second flood has devastated us, and we are now faced with the enormous costs of restoration without flood insurance, as we were unable to obtain flood cover during our recent renewal.
Despite assurances from Northumbrian Water that preventative measures would be put in place, and meetings with local authorities, little support has been offered from either Northumbrian Water or Northumberland County Council, with Gleeson Homes offering none. We feel completely isolated and left to manage this burden alone.
In addition to covering the costs of restoring our home, we also need funds to hire solicitors to investigate who may be responsible for these ongoing issues. Any contribution, no matter how small, would go a long way in helping us rebuild and seek the legal assistance we need to hold the responsible parties accountable.
We are currently homeless, living with family, and are struggling to cover both our mortgage and legal costs.
Thank you so much for your support.
