On Monday October 27, 2025 our friend and brother Tom Houghton was working on a project for a client in Lansing Michigan. He was on a step ladder and it gave way. He landed with all his weight on his back and broke his L1. Doctors described it as a severe spinal injury. This is evident by the 7 hours of surgery that were required to stabilize and repair his spine.

Tom is currently in the ICU in Lansing where doctors expect him to stay for the next week or so. After that he will have 2-3 weeks of residential rehab and after that we don’t yet know.

At this time he has limited to no feeling below his knees, and some limited movement from his waist to his knees. It is unclear - as these things usually are - to what extent any of this is permanent. We do know that this tragic accident is going to shift the trajectory of his life for months to come - if not longer.

At this point Tom and Stacie are facing a lot of unknowns and have to quote Tom - been praying constantly for help from Jehovah. There will be significant expenses including medical deductibles and other things insurance does not cover, such as travel, lost work, meals out, and so on. This Go Fund Me will go directly to Tom and Stacie to financially support them during this stressful, life altering time.

Those of you who know Tom personally know that he is one of the most self-sacrificing, friendly, hardworking, and humble people you will ever meet. He certainly lives by the wise words at Proverbs 19:17. Let us all return the favor to him and in doing so be an answer to he and Stacie’s prayers.
