Help Tom and Shyla Through His Long Recovery
Donation protected
My brother Tom endured a tragic duck-hunting accident. Something so close to his heart quickly became his worst nightmare.
Tom and Brett (brother in law) were up north for their annual guys duck hunting weekend when Tom’s gun fell into the boat with the decoys, and when he went to grab it. It went off. Thankfully, Brett was trained in these highly stressful situations, applied a tourniquet, and called 911.
By the time they got from the hunting spot to the landing, which took about 20 minutes, the ambulance was waiting. He then had to get medevac to Duluth Hospital, where he went straight into the OR.
Tom severely damaged his left wrist, a couple of fingers, and his forearm.
I want to start this for assistance with medical bills and Tom not being able to work since Shyla (Toms wife) is the primary caregiver of their 2-year-old boy, Harvey. They will have minimal income for a very long time while Tom has to go through more procedures and a very long recovery.
We're all so thankful that both Brett and Tom are alive, but please keep the Mathews family in your thoughts and prayers, as this is going to be a long road to recovery.
