Help Tom's family heal after a tragic accident

Donation protected
10/4/2024- Tom gained his wings today at 10:55 am. Tom suffered a serious head and neck injury on 9/15/2024 after hitting a cement barrier on 75 on his motorcycle. Anyone that knows Tom knows he wouldn't go out without a bang. On that date we know he knocked on heavens door and God said he wasn't ready for him yet. He needed time to prepare. 19 days to be exact. God needed 19 days to prepare for Tom. He fought so hard to pull through for his family but the injuries were just too severe. He's now in heaven looking down, watching and protecting his loved ones. He passed peacefully with family around him. His loving wife has to learn to navigate life without him. She could use all the help we can give so she can take the time off to cope with such a tragic loss. Thank you everyone for all the support and prayers thus far. Tom is pain free, flying high with his family and friends above us.
Update 10/3/2024- Unfortunately Tom has taken a turn for the worse. Due to a tragic injury caused in the crash that is not treatable, he was placed on hospice today. He will be taken off life support tomorrow surrounded by his family. We are now looking at funeral expenses and unfortunately he did not have a life insurance policy at the time of the accident. We are in need of help to make sure he has a proper funeral. Thank you for everyone for your prayers and support.
Update 10/1/2024- Tom is being transfered to Ohio State University due to the worsening of his condition. There is nothing further Miami Valley is able to do for him. Mom is very overwhelmed and trying to stay positive. Ohio state has experience with this so we are holding onto one last hope. Please pray for the medical team and the surgeons there. We are look at months to years of surgeries and mom will have to stay at OSU which is added expenses. Anything helps. Thank you!

On September 15, 2024, my mom and stepdad's life was changed forever. My mom was at work when she was notified by deputies that my stepdad, Tom McWhorter, was in a life-threatening motorcycle accident on 75 near Dayton. He was on his way home from his daughter's house and hit the concrete barrier, being thrown off his bike. Thankfully, he was within 5 minutes of Miami Valley Hospital and was transported there, but this is also over 2 hours away from their home in Toledo. He was nearly decapitated, has road rash over most of his body and dozens of broken bones throughout his face and body. They were able to do multiple surgeries on his head, neck, and other major broken bones. Since then, his face is deteriorating due to his arteries being injured in the accident. His face is no longer getting the blood flow it needs. They are currently waiting on the tissue to die and will perform a very complex face and neck transplant if he is able to keep fighting. He is currently in the ICU at Miami Valley fighting for his life.

My mom has NEVER been one to ask for help; she is always the one giving and giving, but her family and friends are here asking for help for her. She has been off work for over 2 weeks now to be with him. She has had to drive back and forth to Dayton, which is over 2 hours. She's staying in his room due to the long commute. The surgeons believe this will be a very long road, and my mom will need to be with him on this road. We are asking for help so she is able to comfortably stay with him, be off work, and to help with the medical bills that will be flying in very soon. Tom was a truck driver, therefore has no income at this time either. If you aren't able to donate, please just say a prayer for his recovery and that he keeps fighting. Thank you all in advance.
