Help Angela and Tom with Affording Surrogacy

Today, my beautiful sister, Angela Zandier, turns 38. Angela is a force to be reckoned with, as anyone who has met her knows. She is strong-willed, hardworking, incredibly loving and exceedingly generous. She is always willing to give a helping hand to those in need, volunteer for the causes she's passionate about, and be a shoulder to lean on for anyone struggling through. Angela is a fantastic mom, wife, sister, daughter and friend. She has great faith and always tries to be grateful for the blessings in her life. This past year, due to the pandemic, I moved in with my sister and her family to help with my nephew Santino and to stay safely in our Covid bubble. Even though I already knew how special my sister is, this experience allowed me an up close and personal view of how much she dedicates herself to the people in her life.
Angela devotes herself to being the best mom to Santino every single day. She has and continues to do the tireless work in therapy to recover from her postpartum depression and PTSD following her traumatic delivery experience. As most of you know, Angela suffered from a postpartum hemorrhage after the delivery of Santino that nearly took her life due to a placenta percreta that was not diagnosed. She received multiple blood transfusions, underwent a D&C followed by a Bakri Balloon, and finally an emergency hysterectomy when it was realized this was the only thing that would save her life. To say all of this was painful and distressing is an understatement. Not only did Angela have to physically recover from giving birth, having major surgery and a week spent in the hospital, she also had to deal with the difficult mental recovery. Most especially, Angela had to come to terms with the fact her and Tom may never be able to have another child.
That Santino may never have a sibling is something that weighs heavily on Angela every day. Although my sister and I are as different as can be, we stand by each other through thick and thin, through the good and the bad, and I know this is something she desperately wants for Santino too.
Angela and Tom are hoping that through surrogacy they will be able to expand their family. Unfortunately, this is an enormous financial burden. Surrogacy costs a minimum of $80,000, which is not something most families are able to afford. My sister and Tom have committed themselves to saving as much as they can towards this endeavor. They have overhauled their finances, budgeted every penny, and Tom has even taken on a part-time second job. Yet even all of this might never be enough for them to afford the cost of surrogacy. So for Angela's birthday, I decided to organize a fundraiser to help her and Tom raise the funds they need to grow their family. My goal, although lofty, is to raise half the cost of surrogacy. I know this may not be possible, but I also know that any amount would be a blessing for Tom and Angela. If you are able to donate towards this cause, I hope that you will consider doing so. Please help Angela and Tom complete their family and achieve their dream!
