Help Tom & Sharon Giese during recovery

What happened....

On September 23rd,  Tom Giese was faced with a very sudden and scary turn of events for his day.   Coming home from the post office, he was hit with a sudden onset of dizziness and nausea so bad that he could not get out of his car.  Praise God, he was parked when this happened and no other injuries happened.   After making attempts to reach someone, a neighbor responded to his missed calls and came to his side.  As I write this, I'm amazed how God's hand of protection was all over this situation.

Well, he was found in his car and the EMT were called.  He was then brought to Luverne ER for investigation of what was happening to him.  Over the next 36 hours, he was believed to just be dehydrated and eventually sent to Sanford in Sioux Falls.  Thank God this is where he ended up.  In the middle of the night on the 25th, Tom became unresponsive and needed to be intubated because he was no longer able to breathe on his own.   At this point after running further tests, it did show up that he had had a stroke in the cerebellum.   That is why he was so dizzy!  He had so much fluid and pressure on his brain that they needed to do surgery that morning in order to save his life.   Want to know what is really amazing!?!?!   This particular brain surgeon (also a Christian) at Sanford is only there one week a month and this all happened when he was in town!  Our prayers were being heard for the care and protection of Tom and for the doctors on his case.

Tom's surgery was a big success!  Praise God for that but he has a long road to recovery and regaining his normal life back.  Yesterday on Oct. 8th, Tom's angiogram results showed 3 arteries needing stents.  One was 100% blocked, while two others have 70% blockage.  This was a bit of a surprise and means a longer hospital stay and a longer recovery.   He is having to rebuild strength and have a lot of physical therapy to regain his balance and coordination to walk as he once did, as well as a lot of weakness and fatigue due to all the trauma he's been through and the lack of health with his heart due to the blocking in his arteries.  I suggested doing this go fund me page for Tom and Sharon because of several reasons.  First, they have a lot of additional expenses due to this and the stress that can be involved can be overwhelming when Tom and Sharon both need to focus on his receiving care and treatment for full recovery.   Second, their income has gone from a combined income to solely placed on Sharon until Tom can go back to work again and we do not know when that will take place.  Third, if we all come together to support them, this will be a big load off of their shoulders and such an amazing act of love that will never go unforgotten!  All of the money will go towards his expenses accrued for treatment and recovery and helping them get back on their feet until Tom is back on his feet. :)

If you feel it in your heart to give, big or small, even just a little added up by several of us will bring a great reward to them at this time of need.

Thank you for reading and considering helping out Tom and Sharon during this time of recovery after this very unexpected event in their life.   If money is not an option for giving for you that is ok; offering to help my Mom with things at the house would be great as well as HEALTHY food.  With Tom's condition, anything he eats is a direct correlation to his heart health and recovery.  Fruits, vegetables (frozen or fresh), low sodium, low dairy, lean meats, healthy fats, and whole grains are what need to be a part of their lifestyle going forward and support in this will be a huge help.   The main things to avoid are sugar, red meat, and processed foods  with their high sodium content.   If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at [email redacted]

My Mom (and you) may have a giggle at my request for healthy food but being a health and fitness Coach makes me very passionate about seeing how we as individuals can truly affect our health by what we consume and how active we are.  Let's be a supportive team for them and help them do this together!

"The Lord is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. This is my god, and I will praise Him - my father's God, and I will exalt Him!"

Exodus 15: 2

"You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance."

Psalm 37: 7-8

Much appreciation and blessings for you!!

Btw....I wrote this up with the best knowledge as my Mom is very busy. If I have a detail wrong, I apologize.  If I've left something out, I apologize.  :)
