As many of you know I’ve been battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia since May . After undergoing multiple rounds of increasingly stronger chemotherapy and two months in hospital, we were just informed this morning that all standard treatments had been exhausted to no effect. Since the doctors can’t get me into remission, a requirement for a stem cell transplant my only hope of surviving this is to go to MD Anderson in Houston and participate in an experimental, clinical trial of their choice. This would entail us renting a car and a place to stay for the length of treatment. Although the medical costs are covered, these extra costs will be a huge strain on our finances. I don’t want to leave Velia bankrupt so I’m reaching out to you, my friends. I would greatly appreciate any financial help you can give. We have a Zelle account and will shortly have a Venmo account. If you contact me via messenger I can give you my account info. Thank you all in advance! I honestly love and appreciate each and every one of you.
Update: For anyone who isn’t aware yet, the clinical trial has failed for me. On my most recent visit with the clinical trial oncologist, she informed me that this trial failed and there were no other trials or treatment available at this time that would help my particular type of leukemia. It seems I have a rare outlier type of basophilic leukemia for which there are no known effective treatments. So I’ve been told that I’m free to go home. The expenses here have been high so once again I’m reaching out for your help. I want to thank everyone in advance for your love and help on this journey. I love you all, my friends, Tom
