HELP TOKYO UNDERGROUND
Donation protected
Tokyo Underground is Perth's Leading Anime Store that has been a huge part of the community since December 27, 2007! It has welcomed a variety of anime lovers and those who appreciate Japanese Culture through its doors until sadly on the 23rd of June it will close its doors for the final time due to Bronwyn Mason's ill health.
Bronwyn Mason, the owner of Tokyo Underground, has been a pillar for those in the community. She has extended a hand more than anyone, from helping independent artists by providing a platform for them to grow in the Perth community as one of the Founders of Tokyo Alley to supporting those struggling from the Fukushima disaster. Here are only some of her Achievements:
- Donations to the Fukushima KISS Project for the victims of the big tsunami (2011)
- Local partner of the Japanese Film Festival
- Organizing and Promoting the Perth Japan Festival while attending all their festivals for the last 9 years
- Providing a Shop Front for Artists to promote and sell that work with 100% of the money going back to the artist
- Nurturing the Anime and Japanese Pop Culture scene in Perth by providing goods and services
- 6 years South West Festival of Japan and sponsoring raffle prizes and promoting
- Aiding the Gunpla community in organizing events and creating spaces for the community to grow
- She supported children who had lost their families in Yamamoto (50km from Fukushima) and donated to them regularly as her daughter was a part of the JET program as an assistant language teacher in the area.
and so so much more...
It would be impossible to write down all the good that Bronwyn has done in the community and, sadly, she has opened up to her health deteriorating at an alarming rate. She is now asking for aid in her current situation.
To fully shut down the store and pay for her Medical Bills Bronwyn needs $50,000 to help her make a smooth transition to a peaceful retirement and upkeep her health in a stable position. Although the amount may seem a lot to some, considering how much she has done for everyone and her community, it cannot come near in comparison to how much love and dedication she has given to others and all of the people she has chosen to serve through her store, that has become a safe space for many.
Any amount will be able to help the person who helped to make the Anime Community in Perth and provide her with a much-needed and well-deserved rest.
