Help Todd Through Paralysis

Hello, We are creating this GoFundMe for our dad/father-in-law, Todd Landfried. As some of you may know, he was in a severe accident on February 3rd. Todd was up north participating in one of his favorite winter activities, snowmobiling. While out on a ride, he was coming out of a sharp turn when his right ski grabbed a downed tree that was overlapping the edge of the trail. The tree brought the snowmobile to a complete stop, launching him over the handlebars and throwing him against a tree. At that point, he could not move or feel anything from the chest down. He was airlifted to the Wausau Trauma Hospital, where he received emergency surgery in hopes of helping to stabilize his spine. Following the surgery, the diagnosis was several broken ribs, a broken sternum, and a spinal cord injury resulting in paralysis from the chest down. His surgeon has prepared our family with the severity of his injuries, but paralysis will most likely be permanent. Despite all, we are praying for a miracle.

After spending just over a week in the ICU, he was moved to a post-surgical room, and later that week, transferred to Froedtert Rehabilitation for in-patient rehab. We are so happy to say that Todd is finally home after five weeks! He is surrounded by his wife (Dina) and loving family, and we are trying to provide him as much support as we can give him. This is a sudden change our family is facing with a long road to recovery that comes with many unexpected expenses. In addition to the medical bills, for Todd to live independently and comfortably, they are having to purchase equipment, make many home modifications, and purchase a new vehicle to be retrofitted so he’ll have the ability to drive again.

We are sharing this with our family, friends, and community in hopes of easing the financial burden for Todd and Dina and try to make this transition as smooth as possible.
