Todd Bert - Second battle with T-cell lymphoma
Donation protected
Just as life seemed to be getting back to some semblance of normal for Todd after his initial battle with T-cell lymphoma resulted in a life-saving bone marrow transplant back in April of 2023, he received some sobering news recently. Following a routine follow-up check by his local doctor, Todd asked them about a couple of bumps on his back that he had noticed recently. They did a few tests and the result is that his t-cell lymphoma has returned. He has started another regiment of chemotherapy which will last until January. His local doctor has referred him back to his specialist at Loyola University Medical Center near Chicago. Initial thought is that he may need another bone marrow transplant in the future.
Todd was doing well and regaining his strength after his initial treatments. He had returned to work at the school although he worked nights to avoid contact with students as much as possible due to his immuno-compromised state. He was working to recover financially from his medical bills and feeling in a good place. This news has been devastating to Todd and his family. To add to the list of issues, just as he received his bad news his wife Krista was hospitalized with Legionnaire’s disease which resulted in additional medical bills.
Todd has received his first chemo treatment this time around. As his health had not fully recovered the effects of the treatment hit him early this time. Time will tell how long he will continue to work before having to stay in isolation as the chemo takes effect and starts wiping out his immune system in preparation for another transplant.
Regretfully we are compelled to restart his GoFundMe campaign as he continues this fight for his life. We are praying that he will completely beat this disease and get his life back to normal again. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can give them.
