Toby is a 7-year-old Maltese mix who loves any human he comes across. He loves cuddles, is a lil clumsy, and is my bestest friend.

Over this past weekend, I came home from dinner to find my Toby covered in blood at his stomach and legs, and a trail of his blood coming from the backyard. There have been coyote sightings in our area, but my family and I never thought much of it at the time. I frantically took him to urgent care for animals, and they confirmed that multiple coyotes got to my Toby, biting his stomach, chest, neck, head, butt, and legs. He walked away with several bite marks, 3-4 broken ribs, a punctured chest, and in need of a possible stomach surgery. The doctors gave me a 60% survival rate as he lost a lot of blood and his heart rate was extremely high from the attack. Luckily, Toby is a strong soldier and beat the odds. He now goes to his daytime clinic for further treatment and is recovering slowly.
