Help Toby Fight Cancer

Hi everyone,

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your help for our beloved cat, Toby. He was recently pre-diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (pending official histopathology results), an aggressive but seemingly localized form of cancer. The tumor is growing on his left lip and has started to cause him increasing discomfort.

Our vet has recommended surgical removal of the tumor as the first and most urgent step. This procedure will not only help relieve Toby’s pain and improve his quality of life, but it will also allow us to send more surrounding tissue for a full biopsy. That biopsy will help us better understand the nature of the cancer and assess what, if any, additional treatments might be needed going forward. Right now, the most important thing is removing the tumor to help Toby feel more comfortable, be able to function normally again, and to give us a clearer path ahead.

Toby is otherwise doing remarkably well, considering he also has diabetes.  We've been managing his diabetes VERY successfully, and our vet says he’s otherwise completely healthy. He’s still the same chipper, happy cat, full of energy, awareness, and love. He enjoys running around the house, hunting his toys, and keeping an eye on everything from his favorite window perch.

We’re aiming to raise $800 to cover the cost of surgery, the biopsy, and any immediate post-op care may be an additional cost to the procedure so anything helps (the estimate for the procedure is in the photos). After I was laid off this year and with both the expenses Toby has incurred so far, along with our own other medical expenses piling up, this situation has put us in a very difficult financial spot. We love Toby dearly and want to do everything we can to make sure he’s not in pain and gets the care he needs.
