Help Toby Live a Better Life!

Toby adopted us when he was 9 months old and he is now 7 years old.  When we met him at the animal shelter, he basically tried to curl up all 50 pounds of pittie wiggles in my husband's lap.  He's a giant ball of love who is always ready with kisses, cuddles and tail wags for anyone and everyone.  He has yet to meet someone he doesn't like and has even tried to befriend a few skunks.

Tobes has an especially amazing relationship with our 5 year old son, Jack.  They have been the best of friends for Jack's whole life.  He truly is like our first born kiddo and Jack's older brother.  He loves going on hikes, sleeping in the garden and eating scraps that are snuck his way by his best friend.

In April 2019, we found a lump on Toby.  We tried to have it surgically removed, but the vet wasn't able to remove it.  Since then, we have been just going about life and keeping his vet in the loop on any changes.  Over the last few weeks, we noticed that his lump was growing more rapidly and had now gotten quite large.  This week, we visited with an oncologist as we've now learned that the growth is cancerous.  The oncologist believes that this is the kind of tumor that grows and infiltrates through the muscles and therefore is harder to remove.  This all means that our sweet boy may have to not only undergo CAT scans, radiation and surgery, but that he might also have to have his back leg and part of his pelvis amputated.

He's a resilient dude and still pretty young, so the oncologist is hopeful that if we can get his treatments and surgeries soon that he can still have a good 4-6 years of quality life.  They are currently referring us to UC Davis as they have the best teams there and Toby has a somewhat complicated case.

Toby really is the best dog ever with the sweetest soul.  Anyone who has met him falls in love with him.

Our teammate and friend needs our help with what will be the start of many medical bills to save Toby.

For those of you who are dog lovers or owners you can understand that our pets are our family and we would do anything to protect them and give them the best life we can.
