Help Toby Get the Back Surgery That He Needs

Hi everyone, this is Toby. Toby is my 4-year-old pit-mix who loves to cuddle, play fetch, get some good scratches, follow you everywhere you go, sleep half of the day, EAT, but most importantly, he is my best friend. Toby is my miracle boy. When he was just a puppy, he got diagnosed with parvo. We didn’t think he was going to make it, but by a miracle and with my dad’s help, he pulled through. He has been the healthiest boy ever since then, with no serious issues other than allergies.

Around yesterday afternoon, I noticed he was acting strange. He wasn’t walking right, and he wasn’t partaking in any kind of physical activity. All he wanted to do was lay around; even playing fetch didn’t interest him. Overnight, around 3 am, he woke me up whining, and he couldn’t move his hind legs without help. We had to physically help him up and help him walk just so he could use the bathroom. We brought him back inside and let him sleep the rest of the night, hoping whatever was wrong would get better. When I woke up later this morning, he couldn’t use his hind legs at all. My dad had to carry him to the car so we could take him to the vet. His diagnosis was presumed to be a slipped disk. We have an appointment in the morning for an MRI to really determine how bad it is and how soon he will need back surgery.

He is only 4 years old. I would do anything for him to have the best, healthiest life that he could. As many of you know, we lost a huge part of our heart last week, our oldest dog Hank. But Toby lost his brother and his best friend. He has been grieving the loss of his brother, and now on top of that, he is in pain. This has been such a hard week on all of us, and this was the last thing I expected to happen. Seeing him this way breaks my heart, and if the Lord is willing, I will get him this surgery. I don’t usually ask for donations, but this situation is drastic. This dog is the most important thing to me, and I love him like my own child.
