Help Toby Defray The Cost Of A New (Used) Car

It's me, Toby. So here's my situation: My old 1998 Toyota Corolla has come to the end of its useful life at 244,689 miles. The transmission no longer shifted into 1st gear without turning off the engine to disengage it. Not great for city traffic... It also shifted REALLY HARD into the other gears (as in the need to use both hands to shove the shifter into the proper gear). This issue started last week and reached the point where it was no longer safe to drive it in its current condition. I already repaired this problem a few years ago, but now it needs to be repaired again. This was the final nail in the coffin, so I decided to let this car go.

 

I limped the car to a few used car dealerships, but prices have gone WAY up from what they were a few years ago. I finally found something in decent shape, with good gas mileage and 4 wheel drive for safer winter driving here in Vermont (as opposed to my previous car pictured above haha). I bit the bullet, used my rainy day fund to cover the down payment and set up a loan for the next four years. I try to live a simple life and keep expenses low. But this unexpected cost strains my finances and is causing me quite a bit of anxiety. As in a ramen-and-rice only budget (although I actually LIKE ramen haha). So I thought really hard about it for days and reluctantly decided to start this GoFundMe to see if anyone would be willing to help me with this challenging situation...

 

I feel incredibly sheepish about asking for money, but I genuinely need your help. If you could spare something to help defray the cost of the car, I would be very grateful for your assistance. $5, $10, $42 (extra points to those that get the reference)... every little bit helps. But IF AND ONLY IF you are in a position to help. I'd hate to be a burden to you...
