Meet Tobi. He is a 5 y/o dapple dachshund who loves to spend his time running around outside and taking naps. While his family was away on vacation, he was wrestling around with his brother Titus and catching zoomies. Tobi let out a yelp at one point and when the dog sitter checked on him he went back to playing. The next day he started having some weakness in his back legs. By the next morning, he was dragging his back legs behind him. It was that morning that his parents were getting off their family cruise and the dog sitter called to give them an update. His parents raced home from their vacation 5 hours away and scooped him up and rushed him to the Emergency Vet. The vet found no responsiveness in his back legs and deemed him paralyzed unless they could drive him to a neurologist 4 hours away. Tobi was taken home for the remainder of the weekend and given anti inflammatory meds and pain meds with plans to see his regular vet on Monday. Tobi was taken into his vet first thing Monday morning with the belief that there would be nothing that could be done. His vet believes that the meds helped reduce some swelling and found him to have some slight responsiveness. Enough responsiveness to make him a candidate for surgery. The family rushed him to the neurosurgeon with no idea how they could possibly afford to pay for this potentially life saving surgery. Tobi was rushed into surgery where they found him to have two ruptured disks halfway down his back. The surgery was successful and now Tobi is recovering and rehabilitating. Tobi is 3 days post surgery and not walking yet but he is showing positive signs that he is getting function back in his back legs.

Tobi means the absolute world to his family and especially his momma. Tobi acts as an emotional support dog to his momma as he is the sweetest most caring dog that anyone could ask for. Please help us be able to afford this surgery that will hopefully help Tobi walk again. Watching his legs drag behind him as he crawled in pain was the most devastating news to return home to. It has been a whirlwind of a week and an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. Tobi is still so young and the thought of him being in pain is absolutely heart breaking. The medical bill for this surgery and rehab settled at $6000 and we desperately need help to be able to afford this. Please help us get Tobi back on his feet.
