Toast came into our lives after experiencing unimaginable pain. She was rescued with a severely fractured femur, an injury so serious that the only humane option to save her life and relieve her suffering was amputation of her leg. Despite everything she had already endured, Toast showed us right away how special she is. Throughout her recovery she has remained gentle, loving, and incredibly resilient. She wags her tail, seeks affection, and greets everyone she meets with kindness.

Unfortunately, Toast’s journey didn’t end with her first surgery. During recovery she developed a serious infection, requiring a second surgery and additional medical care to ensure she could properly heal. These unexpected complications significantly increased her veterinary costs. Even through multiple procedures, medications, and recovery periods, Toast continues to amaze everyone caring for her. She has quickly learned to adapt to life as a tripod, is using the doggy door, and is almost fully potty trained. Her spirit is truly inspiring.

Toast still needs continued support for her recovery, including ongoing veterinary care and medications, a spay surgery before adoption, joint support supplements like glucosamine, and future therapies such as water therapy and acupuncture to help support her mobility as a three-legged dog. Our goal is not only to help Toast fully recover, but to make sure she has every opportunity for a healthy, comfortable life before finding the loving forever home she deserves.
