if you know me - you know Toast. Over the last five short years of his life, we've been through so much together. Many moves, heart break, job changes, life changes, and now, Toast is facing his biggest challenge yet—he is currently fighting for his life at tufts animal hospital. The past few days have been a whirlwind of emotions. What started as routine bloodwork for a teeth cleaning has left us in the worst position we’ve ever been in.
My poor sweet boy’s blood counts were showing extreme anemia and that was just the start. Red blood cells were off, white blood cells off… The first day in the emergency room cost $3000.
While he is still unofficially diagnosed, his doctors believe he may have either Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis—a rare, life-threatening syndrome of extreme immune activation—or k9 hemophagocytic histiocytic sarcoma, an aggressive and fatal cancer. Both possibilities are terrifying, and the costs of are even scarier as we do everything we can to help him.
Toast is more than just my pet; he is my companion, my comfort, and a source of joy for everyone who meets him. His spunky personality and loving spirit have touched so many lives. I’ve never met a dog quite like him, and I’ve been so lucky that he’s been my fist dog to walk through life with. We are committed to giving him the best possible chance, and that means continuing his treatment at one of the best veterinary hospitals in the world. Every dollar raised will go directly to his vet bills and ongoing care, helping us fight for his recovery.
I never imagined I would be in a position to ask for help, but after several friends reached out wanting to support Toast, I realized how much he means to our community. If you feel moved to help in any way—whether by donating, sharing this fundraiser, or simply sending good thoughts—it would mean the world to us. Thank you for caring about Toast and for giving him a chance to keep spreading smiles.
