On April 22nd, 2022, tragedy struck, and this amazing family's lives would change forever. With all four family members in the vehicle, Pedrie, Evette, Isabella and Francois, had no warning of what was about to happen. A high-speed chase was heading toward them with a 16-year-old behind the wheel, reaching speeds of 100miles per hour. The vehicle being chased hit the curb and became airborne, striking the family's vehicle on the driver's side. Pedrie and his son were airlifted from the scene to the nearest hospital. Pedrie sadly succumbed to his injuries while his son Francois is still in critical condition and fighting for his life. The medical bills and expenses of this tragic event will be substantial and we want the family to be able to focus on what is most important, healing. We continue to pray for them and for the full recovery of Francois.

Pedrie being an international rugby star and part of our global rugby family was one of the most humble and genuine people you could ever meet. I know that it goes without saying that our rugby family and all friends of Pedrie will bond together and help the Wannenburgs during this incredibly tough time.
