Update:

Just wanted to say that we are overwhelmed with gratitude for each of your donations, well wishes, and contributions of time, knowledge, and care! Laverne is recovering well after successful spinal surgery. She is now recuperating before the next treatments. We will soon know what the next steps are and go from there. Thank you all from the depths of our hearts. We will continue to do our best to keep the updates coming.

Hello, Loved Ones,

My name is Julia and I am Laverne's daughter. We are writing today because we are putting together resources to help support my mom on this leg of her journey with cancer. After what we thought was a successful intervention last summer we have learned that the cancer seems to have moved into her spine. We are not sure yet exactly what this means, but we are on a journey to find out and do what we can. For now, she is going into an emergency surgery of sorts on Friday the 24th of February to remove as much of the tumor as possible and stabilize her spine. Any help is welcome at this time including financial (every little bit helps), spiritual, or otherwise.

We know it is hard times for a lot of folks, so no pressure. We know that we are held and loved by many. We will do our best to keep everyone updated as we continue on this path.

Thank you all for the support that we have already been given. We are filled with awe and gratitude for the love we have been shown thus far.

Here is the message from my mom:

Thank you my friends for any help you can offer at this time. My cancer journey began with surgery in Kelowna last summer. Recently we have received news that more interventions seem to be required. From experience, we know that the costs of travel from our rural area with extended stays are impossible on my income. With your support, we hope to cover these costs and access counseling and other alternative resources on this healing journey.
