UPDATE -
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments , well wishes and donations to support Darcey in getting a new set of wheels to be able to get around in. The response has been crazy , we didn’t expect any of this , when r Bev came to see us it was to make a funny video about a rubbish situation, to cheer Darcey up and to show awareness off how crap the broken system is and how most individuals are in desperate need and have been for a while in silence. We cannot thank you all enough.
Darceys mum has been intouch with the London team today who has given the name of the suggested chair for Darcey what will hopefully meet her need. I’m so happy to say we have got in touch with the company and are looking to come and do a demo with the chair on Friday. Fingers crossed the chair is going to work and it arrives on Santas sleigh intime !
Hi , this is Darcey she is 17 years of age. She became ill at the age of 8 when she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue. She has always struggled with mobility however Darcey got diagnosed a few years ago with Functional neurological disorder. Darcey became ill in June 2024 when contracting covid 19 and has not recovered since. She gets transported around in a pull along trolley due to her not being able to get into a wheelchair as she is bedbound and cannot sit upright. she is currently tube fed due to her FND. She is currently waiting for a downstairs extension to be finished as she is sleeping , toileting and bathing in the dinning room downstairs.
we are hoping to raise funds to give Darcey a better quality of life and hopefully get support in providing Darcey with health care to support her in her mobility and recovery. Due to Darcey not being able to sit upright she cannot sit in a standard wheelchair and this has to be a specialist order. Darcey has tried several wheelchairs but just are not suitable.
we have had a massive response in a recent video uploaded of Darcey which has everyone asking for a giving page.
thank you so much to everyone who has sent well wishes , shared and liked. Your support is outstanding ! If anything can come of this it would be to raise so much awareness of how massively FND can change someone’s life and what extra support is needed in the system. Thank you
(pictures of Darcey now are the ones in the trolley
the ones with her sat upright was when she was at her best)
